Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads will play their first home games of the New Year this Thursday (Jan. 4) night as the two teams entertain the Wayne State Warriors in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.
The men's game will tipoff first at 5:30 p.m. (ET) with the women's game to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. (ET).
Both games will be carried live by local flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network with online coverage available at FerrisStateBulldogs.com starting at 5 p.m. The twinbill represents the first league games for both FSU squads of the 2018 calendar year.
The Ferris State men's team, guided by fifth-year head coach Andy Bronkema, is presently ranked 10th in the nation and holds a 14-1 overall record to date this year following a 80-66 non-league road triumph at Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (Dec. 30) to close out 2017. FSU is 4-1 in GLIAC play and trails Lake Superior State and Northern Michigan by a single game heading into the heart of the league schedule.
Meanwhile, Wayne State is currently atop the GLIAC South Division standings entering the conference tilt at 4-1 in league action under longtime head coach David Greer. The Warriors are 6-4 overall and riding a current three-game winning streak.
On the women's side, Ferris State is off to one of its best starts in recent memory at 8-5 overall under third-year head coach Kendra Faustin. FSU is coming off a decisive 91-67 regional win over Maryville (Mo.) at home on Saturday (Dec. 30) and is 2-3 in the GLIAC to date.
Wayne State's women's team, which is guided by head coach Carrie Lohr, is also 2-3 in the GLIAC and is 7-4 overall this season heading into the conference contest.
Including Thursday night's action, the Bulldogs will play three of their next four games inside Jim Wink Arena on both the men's and women's sides.
Following Thursday night's home games, Ferris State hits the road to face the Davenport Panthers for the first time ever in GLIAC play on Saturday (Jan. 6) afternoon in Caledonia with the women hitting the floor at 1 p.m. (ET) followed by the men at 3 p.m. (ET).
