Ferris State Basketball Back At Home This Week For Two GLIAC Doubleheaders

Big Rapids, Mich. - After back-to-back weeks on the road for their two longest Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) trips of the season, the Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads return home this week to the friendly confines of Jim Wink Arena for a pair of league doubleheaders.

The Bulldogs will host GLIAC North Division rival Northwood in a twinbill on Thursday (Jan. 23) evening with the women's game set to tipoff first at 6 p.m. (ET) followed by the men's contest at 8 p.m. (ET).

Then, on Saturday (Jan. 25), FSU takes on Lake Superior State in a conference doubleheader with the women's contest slated for a 1 p.m. (ET) start and the men's game beginning at 3 p.m. (ET).

Again this season, one lucky Bulldog fan will have a chance to win $10,000 at every conference home game as part of the Lake Osceola State Bank $10,000 Shootout.  One contestant will be picked at random for a chance to make a layup, free throw, three-pointer and half-court shot in 25 seconds.

Thursday's game against Northwood takes place in conjunction with Ferris State's Martin Luther King Celebration. Fans attending the home doubleheader are encouraged to bring non-perishable goods that can be donated as part of the campus food drive and a special table will be setup in the main concourse with more information on the event.

Saturday will be Kids Day with a variety of activities available for young fans including sign making, face painting, halftime games and more. All kids in grades K-12 are FREE with a paid adult!

Ferris State home basketball tickets can be purchased in advance thru the FSU Athletics Ticket Office by calling (231) 591-2888 or visit FerrisStateBulldogs.com for more information. They can also be bought online via StarTickets.com.

Adult general admission tickets are $7 or the cost is $5 for FSU faculty/staff, seniors ages 65 and up or students age 3 thru 12th grade. FSU students are admitted free with a valid student ID card.

Both Ferris State teams enter this week's action hoping to pick up a couple victories. The Bulldog women's team handed Northern Michigan only its second league loss of the year last Saturday (Jan. 18) in Marquette and is 5-7 overall and 5-5 in the GLIAC. The Bulldog men have captured four of five home games this season inside Wink Arena and are 6-8 overall along with owning an identical 5-5 league record.

Northwood and Lake Superior State are both among the leaders in the GLIAC North Division heading into this week's play. LSSU owns a league-leading 16-2 overall and 8-2 conference mark going into Thursday's road game at Grand Valley State. Meanwhile, Northwood is only a game back at 7-3 in the GLIAC and 11-7 on the year.

On the women's side, the Bulldogs will face a Northwood team that is one game in front of them on Thursday with the Timberwolves holding a 6-4 conference record to go with an 8-6 overall ledger. LSSU is 4-12 overall and 4-6 in the GLIAC heading into their road game Thursday night at GVSU.

All of this week's action will be broadcast locally by Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network starting with the Meijer Pregame Show a half-hour prior to tipoff of the women's game. Rob Bentley and Sandy Gholston will call the action. A live audio broadcast and pay-per-view video webcast will also be accessible at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.
