Ferris State Basketball Teams Return To Action In Ohio This Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball teams return to action this week as the Bulldogs play a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road contests in Ohio.

Both Ferris State teams visit Ohio Dominican for the second-time ever on Sunday (Dec. 15) night for a league twinbill at Alumni Hall in Columbus, Ohio. The women tipoff first at 6 p.m. (ET) with the men's contest to follow at 8 p.m. (ET).

Then, on Tuesday (Dec. 17), FSU travels to Tiffin for a league doubleheader at the Gillmor Center beginning with the women's game at 6 p.m. (ET) and the men's contest at 8 p.m. (ET) in Tiffin, Ohio.

All of this week's action will be carried live by Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network with Rob Bentley calling the play-by-play coverage. The Meijer Pregame Show will start each night at 5:30 p.m. (ET) and the broadcast will also be streamed online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com. Both ODU and Tiffin will also provide a video webcast along with live internet statistics.

The Bulldog men's squad is off to a 2-3 overall record and a perfect 2-0 start in GLIAC play under first-year head coach Andy Bronkema after wins at home over Lake Erie and Ashland (Dec. 5 & 7).  Meanwhile, the FSU women's team is 1-3 on the year and owns a 1-1 mark in conference play following a close six-point loss versus defending national champion Ashland in its most recent game.

Ohio Dominican is presently 3-3 overall in men's action this season heading into Sunday's matchup and the Panthers have split their two league outings to date. The Tiffin men's team will enter its home contest versus Grand Valley State on Sunday with a 5-2 record and the Dragons are also 1-1 in the GLIAC.

On the women's side, ODU holds a 3-3 mark to date along with an 0-2 league slate. Tiffin is also 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the GLIAC in women's competition entering Sunday's home game against GVSU.

Both Ferris State teams swept Ohio Dominican and Tiffin last season.

Sunday's game marks the fourth-ever meeting on the men's side between FSU and Ohio Dominican after a 74-64 Bulldog win last year (12/6/12) in Big Rapids. Ferris State previously pulled out a 69-60 oad win two years ago (12/3/11) in its only other previous trip to ODU. FSU is 3-0 all-time against the Panthers.

The Bulldogs also hold a strong series' edge over Tiffin in men's basketball with an 8-1 all-time record. FSU beat the Dragons 86-70 last season (12/8/12) at FSU's Jim Wink Arena. Ferris State has won the last eight series' contests to date.

Sunday's matchup is the fourth-ever between FSU and Ohio Dominican in women's basketball.  The Bulldogs hold a 3-0 series' advantage to date and beat the Dragons 69-56 last year (12/6/12) in Big Rapids. FSU won its only previous contest at Alumni Hall two seasons ago.

FSU is 5-4 all-time versus Tiffin on the women's side going into Tuesday's contest. FSU has won the last two matchups and posted a 61-51 triumph a year ago (12/8/12) in Big Rapids.

The two games in Ohio marked the last scheduled women's contests for Ferris State until the New Year. The men's team will return home for a single non-conference home tilt versus Cornerstone on Saturday, Dec. 21, starting at 3 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
