Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University officially introduced its 13th men's basketball head coach on Monday (July 1) as new head coach Andy Bronkema addressed the media and community in an afternoon press conference held at the Wheeler Pavilion on the FSU campus.
The press conference included remarks from both FSU Athletics Director Perk Weisenburger along with Bronkema prior to a question and answer session with media members. Additional one-on-one interviews also took place following the press conference along with an opportunity for community members to meet and greet the new head coach.
A native of McBain, Bronkema was a two-time collegiate All-America student-athlete at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids and spent the past six seasons as an assistant coach at Ferris State, including the last three years as the program's top assistant. His elevation to head coach came following an extensive search process that yielded applicants from across the country and covered every level of collegiate basketball.
Bronkema will take over a Ferris State program with a long track record of success that includes more than 1,000 all-time victories, 13 GLIAC Championships and nine NCAA Tournament appearances.
