Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad opens 2011 by visiting NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, Jan. 4. Tipoff for the non-conference outing is scheduled for 7 p.m. (ET) inside EMU's Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Ferris State enters Tuesday's matchup holding an 8-4 overall record along with a 4-2 slate in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.  The Bulldogs have won three of their last four outings to date, including a 83-74 non-conference regional road triumph this past Wednesday (Dec. 29) evening at Wisconsin-Parkside.

On the opposite side, Eastern Michigan of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) is currently 2-10 overall this year under head coach Charles E. Ramsey.  They fell to Samford 55-51 on Friday (Dec. 31) in Birmingham, Ala.  The Eagles were 17-15 overall a season ago and finished with an 8-8 mark in MAC play.

Tuesday's matchup will mark the first time the two teams have squared off against each other since FSU recorded a 66-47 win back in 1972-73.  Overall, the Eagles hold a 14-3 series' advantage all-time.  The first game between the two schools was played in 1931-32 with EMU winning by a 26-22 score.

The EMU Convocation Center is a premier entertainment and sports complex serving EMU and the community. It hosts an array of events including concerts, trade shows, job fairs, athletic events, banquets, commencements and more. Built in 1998, the Convocation Center is a multi-purpose facility with a three-level arena located on west campus.
