Ferris State Football Kicks Off GLIAC Play At Home This Saturday Night

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University football team returns home after facing two-time defending FCS National Champion North Dakota State to open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play against the Lake Erie Storm this Saturday (Sept. 15) evening at FSU's Top Taggart Field.

Kickoff for FSU's 2013 home opener is set for 7 p.m. (ET) under the lights in Big Rapids and will provide many Bulldog fans with the opportunity to watch second-year head coach Tony Annese's squad for the first time this campaign as FSU embarks on its league schedule.

Free thundersticks will be given to the first 500 fans as part of the first home contest and inflatable bounce houses will be on site for children as part of the gameday activities, which will also include the popular Slip n Slide at halftime, Chase the Bulldog and more.

Tickets for the contest are currently on sale and can be obtained by contacting the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at (231) 591-2888. They can also be bought online at www.startickets.com. The FSU Athletics Ticket Office is open Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET) and fans can save by purchasing in advance.  

Tickets in advance are only $9 adults or $6 students (age 3 to 12th grade). Senior citizens (ages 65+) and FSU faculty/staff prices are $8 in advance. Prices go up to $12 for adults, senior citizens and faculty/staff on gameday along with $8 for students ages 3 to 12th grade.  Ferris students with ID will be admitted free by showing their student identification cards. 

Parking in lots near Top Taggart Field is $5 per available space.  As a conveinance to fans, credit cards will also be accepted this season both at the ticket window and the concession stand (purchases of $10 or more).  This year, the concession stand will also offer Jets Pizza and energy drinks.

Tailgating will begin at 4 p.m. (ET) and fans are encouraged to get their gameday beverages and snacks at Grunst Party Store, the official sponsor of Bulldog Gameday.  For catering, fans can call Snyder's Market in Big Rapids at (231) 796-0907.

The outing marks the lone Bulldog home contest during the month of September as FSU will be on the road each of the next two weeks.  The Bulldogs own a 3-0 all-time mark against the Storm and posted a 49-21 road win a year ago over Lake Erie in their initial conference contest.  The Storm fell to former league member Gannon at home this past week by a 36-33 count.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live locally by the Bulldog Sports Network and Sunny 97.3 FM with Rob Bentley handling the play-by-play duties and Sandy Gholston offering color commentary.  Pregame coverage begins starting at 6:30 p.m. A live video and audio webcast complete with internet statistics will be available through FSU's all-access video portal for a charge of $7.95 on FSU's Athletics Website at www.FerrisStateBulldogs.com.
