Dominic Hennig has been hired as a full-time Athletics Communications Associate and assists with the coordination of video, broadcast and social media operations among other functions. Dominic also helps manage and maintain the Bulldogs' official online home at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.
Hennig has played an active role in Bulldog Athletics for the
past four years as the radio and television voice of Ferris State
Hockey. He's also served as a marketing, broadcasting and
multimedia assistant where he's helped develop and manage the
Bulldogs' online video content and social networking sites in
addition to marketing and promotions related efforts.
In addition to his time as the voice of Ferris State Hockey, Hennig's experience also includes stints as a sports radio announcer for the Detroit Dragons (Pro A) and Santa Fe Roadrunners (Junior A) hockey clubs in addition to his alma mater, Dakota (Mich.) High School. He received his broadcasting start at the age of 14 years old and was the youngest broadcaster in NCAA Hockey when he began his tenure with the Bulldogs at the age of 17. He'll start his fifth season calling the play-by-play action in early October.
Currently, Hennig also serves as the radio sideline reporter for
the Bulldog Football team on Sunny 97.3 FM and plays an active role
in coordinating department press conferences in addition to other
His older brother, Nate, was a Ferris State hockey student-athlete from 2007-11.
In 2011-12, Hennig hosted a live call-in show on poplular Grand Rapids-based sports radio station WBBL 107.3 FM from Tampa, Fla., during the Bulldog Hockey team's appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four. Hennig was the official Bulldog Sports Network play-by-play voice for the national championship game.
